greyjediDude,

Here is a pic of my boys, turning 5 and 3 this summer, playing with my old fx sabers last week. I brought these out right after I placed my first order with SF. My boys seemed pretty excited and you could say their Jedi training has begun. Not sure how long I'll let them hold my new SF sabers once they come in, mainly because I'll want to be using them!

Sorry to barely reply to you man, I was at school.
Ah they're so adorable man! Definitely dude, update back when your sabers come in. Be careful though man, they're not toys. I had to clearly explain to my little bro that he can't touch mine without my permission, he's already 5 years old now. I bought other sabers for him to play with and I told him mine are for adults but I'll get him one when he becomes a padawan (when he gets older). I was thinking of getting him an apprentice saber for a gift when he graduates to 1st grade (he's in pre-K currently), probably the oracle when it comes out, because they're just the right size for little hands.
So what sort of Star Wars related things have you done with them? Have they seen all the movies? Have you ever taken them to comic conventions? Do you ever teach them how to swing around a saber?

Great policy. I don't have kids yet, or young siblings anymore, but I hope to thoroughly indoctrinate my kids to the ways of the Force. I figure when they're little, they can have "Initiate" toys, and graduate to Padawan when they're 9 or 10 ish (there should still be people making lightsabers in 11 years, right XD). So much fun seeing little kids get a thrill from Star Wars.

Hi all,

Maybe we could get some of the Jedi Training hilts seen here...

Or possibly make them a hilt using the ASP designer with just minimal (maybe a pommel, body and emitter) parts and install a foam blade? This way they have a "real" saber hilt like Dad's but with a safe blade.

Kind regards,

Hey Borommakot,

Yep, It's really great seeing new kids enjoying something that is as awesome, and old, as Star Wars. It's such a great thing to have in your childhood. :cheer:
Yeah dude, 10-12 years old sounds like the appropriate age for a custom saber; pre-teens are more responsible and could take care of things that are as special as a saber, they figure they have to care for something that is as expensive as a ps4! Hey you just gave me a great idea man: I've been thinking to add at least one apprentice saber to my collection, I want the oracle or sentinel. I could tell him I'm saving it for him for when he grows up and give it to him once he becomes ready for it. It'll take a few years but at least that'll teach him patience. Thanks man!

Whoa dude, you really are a brain storm man! What a great idea, a "safe" blade, maybe they can fashion something like that for the apprentice sabers. I like to think that, other than being really affordable and great for dual-wielding, they're perfect for smaller hands like that of a child. Damn bro, you should send that suggestion to Phil or someone. Thanks for reminding me man, when I decide to get my youngling a saber I have to remember to get it a 26in for it.

Ah man I hope I won't have to be killed for someone to pass on the saber! Good one man!

My 2-1/2 year old seems to lean to the dark side apparently... I can't say I've ever been more proud than when he asked santa for a "big red darth vader lightsaber" for christmas this past year. Luckily I had already bought him the entire set of foam ones available, Luke's blue, Darth's red, and Yoda's green. Surprisingly, he's been very good about following the rules with these, no hitting people, no hitting pets, only hit other lightsabers, or his Bozo The Clown Bop Bag. Also thinking of getting him a Oracle 26" when they're released, but would love a softer blade option than the polycarb.

Don't know why, but kids just love the dark side. My little bro is obsessed with Darth Vader, but when it comes down to it, he's a Jedi by heart for sure. Man, a softer blade type, something that illuminates but is also soft. Does anybody have any good ideas what sort of material will qualify? Knytiri! Tell Phil he's gotta look into this sometime in the future! It's definitely worth looking into.

Thanks guys,

It doesn't stop there using ASP you can build youngling hilts with an emitter and a pommel, which you can upgrade later as they get bigger (and you've saved some cash for). They may be on the short side, but I wasn't sure how long would be the "right" length, just some ideas.

Here are two I came up with:

Great advice on safety everyone!
