Anybody have any experience cutting down a blade? Specifically an exalted blade as I figure it may be more difficult since the film is trimmed shorter than normal blades. Is this something that could be done at a hardware store?

I've actually cut down a blade myself to fit a length more comfortable for my Quinlan Vos Style saber. I used a standard pipe cutter purchased from the hardware store. It gives you a nice clean cut, which you can then sand any rough edges with sand paper.

You just have to make sure to trim the diffusion film (in the case of blades for thin-neck sabers), so that there is still ample room inside for the blade to go into the socket without crunching the film. It is usually about .5 inch above the bottom of the blade, give or take. You might start on the long side, and trim more away if needed. It is always easy to trim more off if necessary, but it is darned hard to add it back if you go too far. :)
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....
