Well, our wait is over.
With a heavy heart I had to cancel my Hero Exhalted this weekend after learning that my wife had been laid off last Friday. She had suffered a severe stroke and spent several months living at the hospital doing rehab to regain the use of her left side. After four months at the hospital she was allowed to come home and continue out-patient physio. While she can now walk again with a cane, she has permanently lost the use of her left arm. After returning to work two months ago, it quickly became obvious her company had no interest in doing anything to try and accommodate her new disability and let her go at this first opportunity.
So the responsible thing to do was cancel our saber since it's basically half a mortgage payment. Phillip was helpful with getting us a refund after a couple snags. We were a litle over 6 weeks into the wait and Saberforge had just made up the shipping label, too. It might have been here in time for the premier. At least we're not pawning our tickets to that. =P
Sorry to hear that, my best wishes for you future.
Sadly even in places where there are protections companies have been become quite adept a circumventing those protections and making the firings or lay offs looking all legal. I watched the Corp I worked for for 13 years do it on a regular basis. The ability to fire people for "performance" if very broad and vague and is often used.
And Amen on the Sith thing Faethien: I have seen far too much of the evil men do to each other in this world to think that evil (even fictional evil) is "cool."Like Voltaire I will defend to the death others right to think it is cool, but it is not for me---Jedi all the way, IMHO.
