Well my friend, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think it's you. The Deep blue , most definitely has the slightest hint of purple. A noticeable difference, without a doubt.

Oh don't worry you aren't! I discovered this about a week ago in the thread that I believe Knytiri started showing two glowing spots on a wall. One was the blood orange and the other was red. He said basically that this picture proved there was no question that there was a great and obvious undeniable difference between the two colors. Everyone quickly chimed in to agree that it was obvious and how could anyone think otherwise.

I looked at it and thought...they're the exact same!

We got into a discussion about the way some people seem to perceive colors differently. Clearly I must be one of those people and didn't even realize it. I'm glad i'm at least not color blind or anything, but on alot of videos i've seen, most of the blues look identical. I can definitely see a difference in the extremes. For instance, I can see that Deep blue and Arctic Blue are quite different. But as for the mid ranges such as deep to medium, or light blue to arctic blue...they just look the same to me.

Sucks to find out this weirdness about myself in such a way but I just hope that maybe I can see the differences in person.

Not weirdness my friend. Uniqueness. ;)

jbeem this has to be frustrating for you. Are you in the process of choosing LED color options for a saber?

Oh no I already chose my colors. For my Epoch champion I chose cyan with an extra LED to change to indigo. The only thing is, my original understanding of the "cyan" color was one that was a mix of blue and green evenly. Most of the pictures I saw of cyan I liked and so I ordered it. Afterwards I have come to realize from reading posts and seeing more pictures that cyan is in truth more in the "blue" spectrum than green. The color I was really wanting is in fact much closer to "mint green".

However, after seeing a really good video that people seem to agree is the best representation of what cyan really looks like, I'm perfectly fine with it. I love all the blue colors and planned on getting them anyway. Cyan being more blue than green is still great for me so no troubles.

For my second saber which was my ASP pledge, I chose red. I wanted to have a saber that could be used for a Jedi costume and a saber to use as a sith costume.

Well that was it for me until a few days ago when my resolve finally crumbled and I ended up ordering that "guardian" saber from ultrasabers. The one that looks like the obi-wan hilt from episode 1 and 2. Here at saberforge its called the "avenger". For that saber I went all out and just got the full RGBW emerald LED driver so that I can make it any and every color I want. I ordered it on Jan 14th and its being built as we speak and is shipping out either tuesday or wednesday this week.

I definitely wouldn't cut it as a Jedi because I have no patience. My wife was tired of me pacing back and forth around the house talking about my lightsabers from saberforge that I couldn't wait to get my hands on so she just told me to shut up and go order the third one from ultrasabers. At least this way I'll have something to shut me up in the next few days to last me until the real deals arrive.

Sort of like an appetizer before the bad ass steak main course.

Oh but as I was saying, I really only seem to have difficulty with slight variance in the saber colors. As I said, Deep blue looks similar to medium blue and light blue looks the same as arctic blue. Red looks almost the same as blood orange and finally, Lime green seems the same as Green to me. All of the other colors are clearly different to me though. I really like the mint green color and also the purple and indigo are different in my opinion as well and both beautiful.

Wow i'm sorry I somehow pulled this way off topic by mentioning one of my own problems!

The TFA graflex rules!

I personally love the graflex in all its forms and I think its neat that they gave it slight modifications in the different films. It seems as if it was just something Luke fixed up and changed over time. I can also imagine that whoever fished it out of the deep underbelly of Bespin obviously tweaked it just a little as well. Perhaps they used it for their own grand adventure that we'll get to hear about one day?

Because the graflex is THE O.G. saber, I have to own it eventually. I know from countless people that it is a bit awkward to duel with so I decided not to make it one of my first choices. Still, I love the design and one day It will adorn my shelf. Along with Obi-wan's redeemer, Luke's prodigal son, and oddly enough...the princess?

Ok am I weird because I'm a guy and I love the princess design? I can't help it. Its just beautiful and elegant. Maybe i'll talk my wife into getting that and then I can play with it when she's not at home.

I don't think so.

Look at this picture:

Looks pretty normal (silver) to me.

That scene was deleted from the movie before release. Also, look at the picture I posted and next time you watch the movie pay attention when Rey is holding up the light saber at Luke and how weathered, beat up the saber really is...battle worn!

After seeing TFA, i finally decided to buy a lightsaber from eBay, a Master Replica one.

Knowing only that the one seen in TFA is the one passed down from Luke, in turn from Anakin, I immediately snapped up an Anakin Skywalker MR.

Only when I came on here and started reading about all the lightsabers and their history, that the Graflex went through a couple of iterations and the one I have is a direct copy of the one from....RoTS :(

Im bummed about it now, knowing that it was used by my least favourite character in the worst film of the prequel trilogy (IMO) and theres other versions out there used by crazy awesome characters.

Ah well.

Hi Nausicaa,

I wish I had known your intentions about purchasing a Graflex as I had a conversation about the development of the Skywalker Heirloom with another member here:

https://saberforgeforum.com/forum/upcoming-saberforge-releases/770-upcoming-saberforge-releases?start=1070#26374

Where I described the Lightsaber as developing being, starting as a child in ROTS, becoming an adolescent in ANH and finally becoming an adult in ESB. The stages of life representing how the saber changed through the films.

Oh well, you still have a piece of the sabers history represented,

@For Tyeth

Well originally (and still do), I wanted Darth Maul's sabrestaff and there was one going (two blades and connector) for about £450. As it was first saber, I was more than apprehensive and went for Anakin's at only £240.

When I got it, I was amazed at how cool it was, how well made it was and the way the blade powers on and off is awesome. Then I read a bit and was like "oh wait the one from TFA is actually slightly different, oh so is the one from ANH, oh god mine is.....

Instantly redeemed myself by buying Qui Gons from here. Never had a SF one so when it comes I hope it blows the Graflex I have out the water.

Hi again,

Well to make you feel better, one of my early sabers was an Anakin electronic flick out saber from 2002 that had interactive lessons on how to swing it (Voiced by Obi-Wan and Yoda!).
I still have it and it appeared in a review I did on my Disciple, but I still need to get my hands on a proper Graflex.

With patience one will become part of your collection, I'm sure.

Ah well.

I actually prefer the RoTS version the best out of the 4. I like the gold accents, the sturdy switch that replaces the flimsy looking lever on the control box, the knurled section around it, and how the control box is slightly lower, making it easier to spin. I like the RoTS Obi-Wan over the ANH version for similar reasons.

Though when my Korbanth Graflex 2.0 kit comes in I'll build it in the TFA setup.

Actually I like that I have the Legacy 1.0. I hope to just get the 2.0 control switch so I can have the ability to switch between the two when ASP is up and fully running.

I am a little surprised that given the popularity of the Graflex, SF doesn't actually have it as a standard "for sale" saber. I know it is part of the ASP but I think given the significance of this saber in the whole Star Wars history, it should be a core saber. I mean, fans are paying money to buy sub-standard products from other makers and empty Graflex hilts to modify etc. ....

I checked again. Here are some pictures from the movie and I still think the switch section (basically the whole saber) is silver. Yes it is a bit more used but nowhere near black if you ask me.

Yeah, I just saw the ending again and it's silver there as well. It must have been the lighting with the dark and snow.

Same situation with me, however. After seeing Shameem and his conversion video with his Anakin MR lightsaber, I'm actually looking forward to giving it a try

All I have is my E-reader and getting good details with my nerve DMG is next to impossible. I may try it but hands always have some shake. Though I can still shoot a gun well?
