Ordered my first saber today. Will review and post picks when it gets here, which I was told it would be shipped out in 5-10 business days

My 12 watt yellow reliant should be here this week. I look forward to reviewing it and reading yours!

Super excited to try it out when it gets here. I've had several lightsabers before, but only the telescoping ones, and a force fx Darth vader. They're fun for messing around with but it's time to get serious B)

Yeah I've had an ultrasaber (sadly they got to me first :( ) but I sold it once I discovered saberforge, and have been saving since then. Can't wait to get my first SF later this week hopefully!

They almost had me. Thankfully I did some more searching before I actually bought a saber, because I found saber forge :P

I've had four Ultrasabers hilts and there wasn't anything wrong with any of them... The Archon I wore out, and the other three didn't quite match my style/needs so I sold em off to buy a bit smaller sabers. Hehe. Saberforge definitely has the edge on the quality feel tho when you hold one in your hand, the Ultrasaber just can't quite compare and feels a little more bulky, like you're weilding a club or mace rather than a finesse weapon. So... that's why I'm here now lol

I'm new to the "fancy" lightsaber thing, and choose SF because of the reviews about it and US

Honestly to me it seems like the only real difference is that Ultrasabers focuses on MHS parts and compatibility, which are larger than what SF uses, so you end up with a much larger hilt, which a lot of people can find clunky and such. I suppose the opposite is also true, that some people would find SF sabers too small. To each their own, I say. I like SF, so... I chose to do my business here.

They both fancy compared to all of the lightsabers I've ever owned. That's all I was saying

And from what I've read on the TCCS forum, the fact that US are MHS compatible is some sort of infringement.

Why do you say that? Does TCCS use MHS?

I've heard about that as well, but don't see how it can honestly be true; I haven't looked into it all that much but the competitive nature of the hobby market seems to be a good breeding ground for intellectual property debate, if you ask me. Iunno tho! Maybe it is. But.. Im just here to enjoy the saber itself lol

The custom saber shop does some reason to complain, they did start the MHS standard size for interchangeable compatibility saber parts for DIY saber customers. Having bought from US before the first products where not compatible with MHS parts I have a few of sabers. Some theirs first to use MHS compatible parts where the Catalyst, Arbiter and Oppressor. Unless TCCS has a patent they have not understanding from a legal stand point and even if they do considering the FX light saber market is not very big litigation costs threshold not much to gain if they were to peruse and much lose if they did. I do give credit to To TCCS as if it was not for MHS parts the market for FX light saber would not be so big today if they had not made it so easy for DIY saber builds, others seeing what could be made would not have seen the baseband said "that's awesome can you build me one" which help lead to the many companies like salesforce and others that make obtaining your own FX lightsaber easily available. Saber smiths we salute you ;)

Why do you say that? Does TCCS use MHS?
The Modular Hilt System is TCSS's specific thread size on their specific size of aluminum tubing.
I've heard about that as well, but don't see how it can honestly be true; I haven't looked into it all that much but the competitive nature of the hobby market seems to be a good breeding ground for intellectual property debate, if you ask me. No argument there. Just based my statement on what I've seen said on their forums. Though in general it seems like if you didn't make the hilt from scratch or use exclusively TCSS parts, they don't want to see or have anything to do with your project. I saw someone post a cool saber they made for someone using all MHS parts except for a US emitter and it was just a string of "lose that emitter!" And "We don't utter that name here"; another guy actually had to preface his build post by saying that it was approved by Tim himself to post since he was using a gutted US Bellicose.

They also are pretty hostle toward SF. Someone asked about using a SF part or something and a mod actually locked the post so no one could answer and told him/her not to say that name. Someone posted a great Yoda conversion with a V4 blade plug and SF plug, and everyone was saying how great it looked until the poster said were they came from.

Yah. It definitely seems to be very... cliqueish. "If you bought at x you can't be here!" Which, to me, defeats the purpose of enjoying the hobby. Like, I get not wanting to support your business competition but at the end of the day here we are all nerds and fans of the same thing, lol. Getting grumpy with other fans because they bought their stuff somewhere else just doesn't make sense to me. But, it is what it is. Gotta learn to deal with it lol

I totally agree criticism of a saber built based of where you got the parts goes against the true spirits of a DIY saber build. Its about creativity and having fun. :)

It seems that it won't be as quick as I was told. The parts won't get to SF until beginim of April. not their fault and not complaining but still, I can have my epic adventure that I've been working on since I first saw Star Wars :(
