Yeah, now the tough decision - ANH or ESB....

Only disappointment is the bubble card is a too thin and doesn't clamp in.

I snuck in one of those square recharge ports into your package, you can glue that with clear apoxy to the bubble card and clamp down on the port, works great. I'm a fan of the full length grips

Well thank you! I will make damn good use of it!

I keep going back and forth. I'm sitting at my desk mocking it up one way, then the other.. LOL

Depends how accurate you want to go. ESB would have you paint those clamp bars black and remove the lever.

Clamp box as-is is pretty close to ANH (silver bars + lever), but I think the lever was attached to a custom pin made from a nail that ran through the clamp and then bent 90 degrees before the lever was secured to the end.

I'm going for "pretty damn close". Don't think I'll go as far as to replace the screw on the clamp with a pin/nail.

Going to go with an ANH config and keep with my original plans for all 3 ANH hilts.

Trying to figure out a close approximation to the clamp rotation for ANH though. Looks to be around 115 degrees from center. Wondering if I should take some creative license and move that a little closer to 90 degrees for better grip when wielding.

EDIT: I'm seeing multiple Clamp orientations for the ANH hilt - 180 degrees and something closer to 115-145 degrees. Kouri, any chance you have a definitive reference for that orientation?

Did some digging at the RPF. ANH had two hero Vaders, both with the clamp 180.

Silver bar hero had the nail-repaired lever. When looking at the pommel with the box down, lever is on the left side. Space between the clamp and grips.

Black bar hero had an intact lever on the right side. Clamp was also slid down lower to eliminate any space between the clamp and grips.

Looks like the "stunt" version had the offset clamp.

Thanks for digging.

So, the last short grip I pulled out of the bag, the adhesive pads were missing.
Tim at TCSS being awesome is sending me another one. Wonder if that means a whole 'nother kit.....

Mine will likely sit for a two or three months the before I get to install it. I've got a backlog of commissions to work through first.

The Graflex isn't my favorite hilt, I may have to get one for the nostalgia and the fun of building another saber.

Problem is if I get one, then eventually I'll have to get two, one for luke and one for vader. Then I'll have to start collecting cannon hilts...Then I'll have to get a divorce...or be stopped.

I'm the opposite, Cannon hilts (technically even EU cannon) are my thing.

LOVE a good OT hilt, Graflex, MPP mmm mmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I'm a huge fan of the scratch built artistry that went into making those original hilts.

Take Obi-Wans hilt. You've got Graflex parts, machine gun gears, actual grenade, a knob from a sink..... -- that's some creativity there.

Some of the stuff I've seen Kouri, Vechaljian, and some other folks cobble together is pretty damn impressive, and is why I'm such a fan of this forum.

That's fair. My first attempt at light saber building was made with a flashlight and plumbing fixtures. Still have it around somewhere.

Bit of an update, I've got a CF8 inbound for the MPP.

Going to put a rocker style switch under the bubble card on the clamp (ordered the rocker mount from shapeways). Waiting to see what Darth-Ryo puts out for chassis. But I expect to go with what will end up being either the knight or master chassis for the MPP only with crystal chamber.

So, need to drill an hole into the upper body for wires from the clamp, going to setup the thumb screw as the blade retention.

Nice cf8 is awesome, I have one in my crystal reveal graflex, don't forget that there are plenty of holes on either side of the Lower body, so may not need to drill at all.

I want to be able to unscrew the bottom for a chassis/crystal reveal. Won't be able to do that if I wire through one of the bottom holes. Unless I'm missing something.
