Pretty much everything I said about X-Wing, goes double for Tie Fighter. Obviously, flying for the Empire was kind of like dipping a toe in the Dark Side, and the variety of ships was actually a little more interesting. The Tie Advanced was darned near unstoppable, and the Tie Defender was like playing on "God Mode".

Between the two games, there were weeks of fun to be had, and GoG has this one available too.
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....

I miss the advanced. Never forget the betrayal mission. Hit Shift-S the second you start. Those gunboats save your bacon.

I loved X-Wing, but I went nuts for TIE Fighter - especially with the intrigue offered by the extra mission objectives.

One of my favorite games ever - and it's also on Steam now thanks to the Humble Bundle. :)

I love the old Star Wars sims. One of my favorite crafts is the Tie Defender

Pure technological devastation!

It was faster, more heavily armed and shielded than anything else short of a capital ship. The automatic "Win" button.

I'm still glad they (eventually) made a Lego TIE Defender. :)

I remember my first time playing that...
Me: "Wait, what? Clear a minefield in an unshielded TIE? C'mon now..."
Later:
Treacherous admiral: "Enough of this charade! [whatever your designation was] is the Emperor's stool pigeon! Destroy him!"
Me: "Uh... Uh-oh..." *steady stream of curses from constantly narrowly avoiding death*

Personally, I took great pleasure in taking on the betrayal mission without calling for help. Shooting down a TIE Advanced with a TIE Interceptor is very satisfying. Good thing the computer isn't very good at energy management. B)
Yoda of Borg am I! Assimilated will you be! Futile resistance is, hmm?

Heh my first time through was on my own. It's way more enjoyable when you've got the time to toy with them though ;)

After: Another happy landing

Saw these while looking for chassis, couldn't resist. So many classic SW ships

Quite a few from games that have never seen screen time outside the console, or computer. I like it!

Wow, there are some great ones there!

Although, to be honest, I think I liked the Lemmings best.
