Any one notice the curved hilts on the wall of the Dojo, when Kanan was confronted by the Sentinel in the Temple Duel. Also what's up with Ahsokas saber Ignition. Touching the emitters and pulling them apart, as you would remove a Katana from a Saya. Anyone else notice or have opinions on this, just thought it was an interesting way to activate her sabers.

My guess is after she left the Jedi Order, she probably would fix her saber with new parts. Or she could have just made the Ignition the way she wants. I wish there was more back story at to what she has been up to, and more information on her sabers.

If there is one thing you can count on, it is that if there is an interesting story that can be told in flashback on the current series, or perhaps as part of another effort...they will, because they love to fill in the blanks! Clone Wars spanned most of the gap between EPII, and III. Rebels is filling the later part of the gap between EPIII and IV, with Rogue One to finish it. At some point, that big gap between EPVI and VII will get more scrutiny, beyond the books that are starting to delve into it.
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....

Don't forget the current Marvel comics run filling in the timespan between episodes IV and V.

As for Tano's new hilts, I've only seen the finale, so I probably missed the intro of her curved hilts with sliding emitter. Def something I'll need to check out.

Hi all,

I have had another look at Ashoka's Sabers and the way she ignites them and found a video where she faces off against the Inquisitors (Seventh Sister & Fifth Brother). In it she does ignite the Sabers by bringing them close together but I don't think it has any bearing on the operation of the Sabers (the Sabers are actually angled to form a point and not horizontal). She does this movement just as a flourish to try and intimidate her opponent. The reason I say this is that during the video she extinguishes her sabers using what may be a switch on the flat side of the hilt (possibly the diamond shaped marks), then a few moments later she re-ignites one of them without bringing the emitters together.

Here is the video:

The points of interest are at 1:17 secs and at 1:34 secs.
I discussed Ashoka's Sabers on Nausicaa's thread "Star Wars Lightsaber Designs Ultimate Resource" and talked about the scene where she is meditating with the Sabers on the floor in front of her pointing emitter to emitter. She then lifts the hilts vertically, and as she presses the activation buttons she moves her hands apart. The blades extend at the same speed as she spreads her hands apart making it look like the blade "appears" fixed between the two hilts until full length. The thread can be found HERE.

kind regards,

For Tyeth

This seems the most likely explanation to me.

Nice post For, possibly just my eye sight starting to go. Her encounter with Vader on Malachor she doe this again. Just a cool coincidence I suppose. As for her sabers, did you notice that there were multiple versions of it on the wall of the Kanaan/Sentinel scene. If a new book is coming out, it'd be cool to see if the delve into the origins of the Hilt she currently wields.

For lack of a better term, Ahsoka is, plain and simple, a bad ass! Every time she returns to the story, and better yet, gets involved in the fight, I am giddy with anticipation and nerding out at maximum power!

I was already jonesin' for a saber with a frost white blade, and seeing hers in this season of Rebels just cemented it completely!

Shameem's Fulcrum soundfont (made from ripping the sound effects of Ahsoka's sabers from the Inquistor fight) is available now, which to me sounds like a great neutral yet aggressive saber that would go great with a white blade:

Someone on IRA has a prototype of these already done complete with LED and blade :P

And for those wanting the green, Shameem's Lime/Green was right on point.

Can't wait for my Ka'Tano!!! That said, these new ones are awesome.

Makes sense. That's pretty cool that they're continuing the Japanese influences George Lucas had when developing Star Wars to begin with.

I am so glad the creative team is picking up more and more influences from both Ralph McQuarrie and Japan/Asia.
