I have the pleasure of doing a first ever video (as far as I am aware) showing the Saberforge Relic and Saberforge Templar crossguards side by side. I have been asked to do this and makes interesting comparison. Spinning both sabers at once is difficult, so I kept that part short.

Say no more; thank you for watching.

Thank You Ex66, this comparison Video Featuring Templar and Relic has been in the works for a long time coming. Certainly makes repeated viewing so much easier rather than running both Videos separately over two tabs. :P Great Videography, crystal clear Audio and Video almost as if I'm right there in person watching them.

Granted the Weathering Application is always different and cannot be specified, I actually prefer the Darker on Relic over Templar and will always most definitely choose a Grenade grip over a Wrap. Revisiting the two side by side now the preference of one over the other still isn't any clearer though. Have you ever swapped out the Templar Pommel with a Relic just for curiosity? Have you considered the recently released Axe Blades also?

I'm quite possibly leaning towards Templar (which even surprises me) solely on a handling matter as it doesn't have (*insert correct terminology for the underside blade/claw thingy's*) but still has Emitter shine through. Since seeing your Relic Video, if I ever do get a Crossguard I'm likely to leave the side Emitters bladeless (just plugged), a 32" Main Blade and an individual ASP Pommel to swap out (if it's even possible/compatible).

Great Work, Thanks again for Sharing.

Thanks for your support.

The Relic's pommel suits the Relic well I think; spiked pommel and a spiked looking emitter. The Templar's emitter is flat (or rather, there isn't really any, just open) and I think almost any pommel might go with it? My advice is if you are even remotely thinking of doing some serious spinning, the Templar is better suited (assuming you are getting one saber to begin with). And leaving the two sides plugged in certainly helps, I can easily imagine that although I have not yet done that in practice.

I am sure a lot of folks were waiting for something like this to help them make an informed decision between these two designs.

Fantastic!

Thank you, again! As usual, excellent review and a wonderful comparison. I never get tired of your pool demo. Great work! This also managed to answer some questions I had. :-)

excellent review as always, mate. (i also follow you on youtube.)

having both sabers, do you think there's a way of disassembling the crossguard from the switch section, and swapping them over? let's say for the sake of this discussion, that they're empty hilts.

also, the switch sections look the same. are they actually the exact same part?

Good question. Looking at the two sabers, the switch sections look identical. But it appears to be housed over by the "T" intersection on both hilts, so the exposed switch part is actually a little less on the Templar than the Relic. I know crossguards switch and electronics are more involved than non-crossguards, so I wouldn't be tempted unless one is quite experienced with it, which it ain't me for sure. :P

Unfortunately ASP doesn't give any clues either, since only the Relic pommel is available. Maybe because the crossguards are complicated for ASP?
