I am trying to install soundcard into the consular. However i find that the inside length is too short.

I put in 2 different types of battery holders for a 18650 battery and the battery holder itself has already reached the threads of the pommel. There seems to be no space in the body for the speaker and also for the wires to curl.

Without the holder and with only the battery, there is a very tiny amount of space, possibly for a thin speaker. But there is still no space for wiring and for wires to curl.

The entire inside length of the body is a hair below 3 inches.

Has anyone installed sound into a consular and can share some light as to what type of battery they use and where to place the speaker?

Will a 14500 battery be more feasible in this case?

Any help from anyone who had done installs on the consular would be much appreciated.

The pommel itself is fairly hollow, no? You should be fine with a speaker that fits into the pommel cavity.

If you need a shorter battery, opt for an 18500. 14500 usually cap at 2A of current, which isn't enough to fully power a tri or quad star.

Thanks Kouri, how would SF install their consular with sound?

- 18650 or smaller sized battery? i guess no battery holder as well, but a recharge port (comes std with champion tier)

- a 23mm or 20mm speaker inside the pommel ? That thought of putting the speaker into the pommel did cross my mind but my std 28mm speaker wouldn't fit, so i ordered one 23mm speaker.

Alan I have a Consular saber that had a speaker problem. I sent it back and it got fixed. I got a look at the internals before I sent it back, since the speaker just fell out. There is no battery holder, on a champion tier consular. Battery is taped/velcro wrapped to the soundboard. Not a whole lot of room as you know. I would also recommend a c-clip/retention ring to secure the speaker in the hilt.

Thanks Ottomatix. I suspected that too. I guess that's about the only way to do given how small the space they have. I normally do not like to tape up by battery because it makes replacement a big operation. I put them in a holder for quick swapping, yet i still retain the recharge port for easy charging. The battery only last an hour or 2 during events despite a full charge, so a swappable battery is still the preferred method for me but in this case, i guess i may need to change my usual configuration.

Could you tell me where you found a 23mm speaker and if its a bass speaker? Thanks!

fuzzjunk, it's not a bass speaker. it's a premium speaker. found it in a chinese website but it's all chinese and payment via their local banking system (got a friend there to help out). not here yet, so don't know how good or bad it is.
