Hmm, now two of the three reviews in this section contain this saber... :P

Yet another review of a rarer saber I've picked up, they do rather seem to be adding up these days, the customised Guardian, the Vengeance, now the Mauler too. Also the second saber I have that was previously owned by our very own NeBosa, in addition to the aforementioned Guardian. Without further ado however, lets get into the review

The hilt is absolutely stunning, while not a complete replica of Mauls hilt, its close to it and incredibly close nonetheless. I believe this one has a couple of tiny modifications to the original, the red accent LEDs and the tactile switches. I can take or leave the switches, but the LEDs add a lot to the hilt with such a small detail.

As mentioned in the video, the hilt wields well in its separate halves, certainly not the best hilt I own for things like spinning, but the greeblies/screws do not get too in the way generally. As I have no experience in using a saberstaff, I cannot comment on how well it spins when coupled, but it sure looks great :D

As always, the 12w+ Red LED and crimson soundboard are brilliant, no real need to cover those again, so lets get right into the pictures:

Great review and video, Saberforge really knocked it out of the Park   with this design. The accent LED adds a nice subtle touch.

Just promised the mother of a now passed friend who loved darth maul that I would obtain the parts and build that staff in his honor. I was gonna build it for him before he passed but I lost that race now I'll build it in memorial. This just charges me up to get started!

Beautiful. The SF Mauler staff is one of those rare items by SF. Mine doesn't have the accent LED.

What a beaut! Great score, getting your hands on one of these! I wanted to get one of these using the ASP parts but the emitter has been sold out for months...
Congrats & Enjoy!

Thanks Otto, the LEDs really are a nice "little bit extra" that just bring the hilt to life, can thank NeBosa for those additions.

Alister, very sorry to hear that, but I'm glad I can help inspire you to finish such a thoughtful memorial!

Indeed, it is very lovely Execute66, and yeah, those accent LEDs are brilliant, although even without the saber is incredibly striking and gorgeous.

And DK44, it is a good one to get my hands on. Of the currently out of production/moved to ASP hilts I wanted to get my hands on the orignals of, the Vengeance and Mauler were top of the list, and now owning both is great. Hope they restock the parts soon for you, it really is a great piece.

Looks gorgeous.

A Maul staff is definitely on my to-do list for my personal collection.

Indeed, certainly worth obtaining one if you can. Personally I need to get myself a Obi-Wan episode 1 saber to complete my Ep1 collection. Hopefully soon

I'm curious as to how I can go about acquiring a mauler lightsaber, I'm kinda new to saberforge, and I don't see it on their website, any help would be much appreciated! Side note: how much would something like that cost?

Of course. Well, the Mauler model featured here was a limited run (not sure how many were produced) and was never picked up as a main site model. Buying one of the originals like this one will cost you a fair bit more due to their rarity, I believe these cost me around $800 without shipping, insurance cost, paypal fees, and cost of the blade plugs. And that's if you even get the chance to get your hands on one, since they are all owned and would need to be bought second hand.

However, with the recent-ish release of the ASP (Adaptive Saber Parts) system with SaberForge, all the parts necessary to build a Mauler are now purchasable. I have not looked into the cost of getting such, although I would wager it would be $500-600 most likely, plus extra if you would rather have SaberForge construct the saber for you instead of you doing it.

All these parts are available on the main site, under the Adaptive Saber Parts tab on the sidebar, although to my knowledge and as mentioned by DK44 below, the emitter has been sold out for quite some time now, so you may have to wait a while.

Hope I was able to answer your question, and if there's anything else I can help with feel free to ask :)

With ASP, you're looking at the following prices using the PnP kits:
(subtract $30 if not using the pommel for separate sabers, add $15 for a set of timing shims)

Initiate: $332 / Warrior: $577 / Champion: $852 / Hero: $1072

Prices include staff coupler, and 2x blade plugs on Warrior+.

Obviously less money if you're going to DIY your own electronics (since much of the cost of the kits is labor), make your own blades, or only put sound in one hilt. Most staff builds are similar prices; Mauler is a tad higher with the $60 emitter and $40 switch and body sections.

I'm wondering how you got to such a high price for the champion tier, I only got it to $631.84

Haha I figured as much. I've seen a lot of staffs that one use sound on one saber. Anywho, enough of me hijacking your thread. :P

It's a shame that SF only did a limited run of the Mauler; it looks amazing with the accent LEDs (and not everyone is comfortable doing DIY electronics).

Indeed, although those accent LEDs were not standard, but added on (by sending the hilt back into SF for an electronics install) at a later date. Unique as far as I know
