Has anyone thought how they might further personalise and enhance their ASP builds?

With the news that it's hopefully not too much longer to wait, I started fiddling with some ideas.

I plan on adding a shroud to one of mine, and hopefully a Kylo Ren clip to another, but I like to keep things pretty simple.

What program did you use to make those edits? Also, nice design.

I've been looking into adding engraving/etching onto mine when I do order (so the video shared by Elvie in the DIY section recently was a good find).

With my planned saber, I'd like to add etching to the shroud and body just below the grip.

I used photoshop for this.

Now the question is this.. Can I wait till all the customisation is done to assemble my saber... Or do it piece by piece

I ordered the grip in standard so that would have to be painted / stained, id need to engrave and stain the switch section, create and install the brass Pin button plug and (possibly) lightly weather the remaining parts..

I guess I've waited this long?

The only thing I know for sure I'm doing is replacing some of the screws with some brass ones I got from Lowes.

Depending on how even the weathering turns out on my parts, I may sand it down a bit, like what Filius_Secundus. did with his Consular.

I'm also considering adding some gold accents using some automotive paint (it's used on engines and brake calipers).

Those brass thumb ones fit riiiight inside the brass knurled knobs. Makes a nice effect. Might glue them together to make a retention screw.

I'm going to work on the weathering some like Jaden Korr referenced. I already machined down a thumb screw and weathered it with some gun blue. Planning on cutting different grips for the vengence emitter out of brass bar. Probably change the covertech wheel to brass.

I have some ideas I've been playing with/planned on since pledging Ks asp. But I'll have to wait for them to come in to see if they are really possible without too much work or voiding warranties. Hopefully that will occur in the next week or so...

Jonny, what did you do to machine down the thumbscrew? I've got a few I'd like to use, and a dremel with assorted bits. Is that enough?

I used a lathe in the machine shop at work. I had to turn down the base of the threads to get it to screw all the way in. Then cut it down until I got a perfect fit. You could cut it with a dremel and a vice and sand it to perfect fit.

Dremmel will definitely work. I've used 60 grit sandpaper and just drug it across repeatedly lol.
