OvrcAHst,
The main topics I would like highlighted in any review, the "features" or functionality of the item, I am a person that buys an item and has to take it apart and "make it better" in a sense, easier to use, like the little tab I added to the battery holder in my saber(rudimentary example).
I like to plan what i would do to the item before purchasing it, I have already drawn up schematics and wiring diagrams or the latching to momentary switch before I even ordered the saber. There for I would like things like internals, diameters and wiring of sabers in reviews so that I can plan ahead.
The point you make is valid and is extremely significant. The basic premise tends to be Text, Images or Video with the format changing dependant on the Poster.
But how do you capture that feeling and share the joy that is experienced?
I guess there is one simple rule. Lots of pictures to cater for those that appreciate your particular Saber but do not own it (yet) and remain hopeful they will.
I could not agree with you more. couldn't have said it better, the underlining fact is that one cannot capture true emotion through text or picture, with a video however accurate, still cannot display the true sentiment one has. One because(I don't know about other people but this applies to me) I did plan to record a video and post it of my reaction to getting the saber, BUT I was under so much pressure to not look like a fool and make a verbal mistake that it compromised the emotion and pure joy. That is why I posted a text\picture based review.
The reference I made was directly associating your Katana. They're still Sabers (of sorts) and you can see Master Dain's Collection and NeBosa shares his collection (also impressive) within the same Thread as discussion exchanges. Thought this would be to your interest as fellow Forum Users have an alternate mutual and similar appreciation.
Oh yes, you were right, I had a look and I need more!!
Wouldn't it be sensational if USPS Delivery staff wore 'GoPro's' or hidden cameras just for the purpose of capturing all that initial wonder and happiness as you accept your delivery?
Referring back to what i said about my thought of a video, this is a great idea, If I did not know there was a camera, I wouldn't have felt pressurized and true emotion and joy would have been captured.
Like I tell everyone who asks me "Why spend so much money on something you have as a display" or "Why waste money on something that is not real"
Well my answer is because I need a hobby to occupy myself, I am a huge Star Wars fan and I always will be, I have wanted a saber since I saw ANH which was when I was 6 years old. ALSO It is not just for display purposes, it is a prop for cosplay, and an instrument with which I don't have to worry about hurting myself with, and it looks awesome to twirl and hurl around. That is why.
To conclude my review, I have wanted one all my life basically and now that I have a saber, I want another one, I want to modify and build my one as well, There are several that I want from SF as well. This is not a toy, this is a hobby, a way of life, once you obtain your own, you will understand.
