How cheap?
You could use anything that allows you to use custom sounds and replace all the sounds with silence apart from poweron and poweroff . A board such as the Nano Biscotte would allow you to do this - an older version 1 might be cheaper to buy and would also allow you to have soundbank 2 set up to include normal hum,swings and clashes so you can switch between optional sounds. |

Does the soundboard in the champion edition allow me to turn off all the sounds a part of ignition/retraction? |

No, the champion boards have three settings: Mute, Low, and High. Your best bet is to pick up a board somewhere and only put the sounds you want on it. Maybe like an NBv2, so you have two fonts, one with full sounds, the other with only the ones you want, so you could switch between the two whenever you wanted.
The 3.0 sabercore boards (due out this winter) will have a customizable sound font you could do that with, as well. |
