I know you guys have been chomping at the bit for these, so go get 'em!

Plug & Play Champion

Make sure you read all about the Champion set, as the LED and the PnP switch are items that need to be purchased in addition to the the kit, as opposed to the Hero set which is complete as is.

Plug & Play Hero
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....

Good to see the full suite of choices now!

Personally, I shall go Pro-Assembly option. :P

HOLY SHJTJLDASFMORENPEMFAGKJOPRATJKAWEP!!!!!!!

:cheer: :cheer:

Endlessly interested in how the new version works...if I had some purchasing freedom.

Gal-darnit, Mother, let me buy a saber (or two) already!!

Question: Are these rumble thingies going to start coming standard with all SF sabers, not just the ASP ones?

not sure how I feel about the whole "simulates the subtle vibration of a real energy blade" bit... It will definitely drain the batteries faster given this extra power usage.

I must say that since "real energy blades" don't actually exist, who's to say they even vibrate at all? I'd think if you have the technology to make a "real energy blade" then you've probably figured out how to reduce the inefficiencies that would cause this "subtle vibration".

Also feel like this makes displaying them while lit a huge PIA because they'll likely rattle like crazy if they aren't in your hand. It all just seems a little gimmicky to me, and they'd have been better served by putting this effort in to making the champion sound board writeable with different fonts.

Hopefully the vibration is a feature that you can disable somehow.

I do like that they'll now have in hilt recharge...

Its really cool especially if you have a blade flicker/shimmer/pule active since it will vibrate in sequence with the blade.

I am curious now, Phil. Will the vibration be a feature you can turn on and off (like a setting in the soundboard or something)? If not, that might make me a bit uncertain about using Champion tier sabers for dueling if the vibrations are going to distract me.

I can look at how to wire the motor on the spark color 2. Does it just wire in with the LED on the champion electronics and run all the time?

so no switch or led with the kit. I'm assuming though that it comes with a kill key, right?

I'm interested to find out about this too. From the Spark Color 2 guide, you should wire the vibration motor between an LED channel lead and the accent common/battery positive. Not sure how this works since the kit ships with a RGBA module, not a 6/6/12 LED which could have a dedicated channel for the motor. It may be possible that the rumble is wired to a single channel, but then if you wanted to run a different channel solo you wouldn't get the vibration.

I totally want to buy one of these kits to get a better look at it, but I also don't want to drop a few hundred dollars this week :p

I'm really excited to see someone get one of these in hand. I am very interested to see how the vibration feedback feature performs. It's an interesting idea.

I'm a bit concerned about phantom swings on the Champion electronics. I've heard plenty of complaints of speaker vibration causing erratic swings on the VVFlex Crystal Shard - I can only imagine a rumble motor triggering the accelerometer on SaberCore.

Shouldn't be an issue with the soundless Warriors or Gyro Heroes though.

  • Attatchment is forbidden. Possesion is forbidden. Compassion, which I would define as unconditional love, essential to a jedi's life. So you might say, that, we are encouraged to love.

Is the vibration motor some that can be turned off in the settings menu? I'm willing to give it a try, but it's not something I'm particularly interested in and will probably opt to turn off if possible.
Sabers owned:
  1. Non-SF Hilt-only ANH Luke
  2. Kickstarter ASP (Champion)
  3. Venom (Champion) [Wife's]
  4. ASP (Hero)

These vibration things seem like they'll be cool for cosplays and choreographed duels, but for actual dueling and display I'm not sure. The sooner someone on the Forums gets one of these and gives us the scoop, the sooner we'll know if Champion tier sabers are still gonna be my forte. Otherwise I might have to go straight to homebuilds, which I seriously don't have the time or resources to do myself.
