Here's how mine looks with that d-ring on it. Warranty is still good doing it this way.
And it looks good, too. Thanks for sharing. Edit: And if you wanted to, it would be easy enough to reattach the covertec, right?

Definitely! You just need the proper allen wrench to remove the small bolt, swap it out and reattach. So long as you don't lose it, it is pretty small and I misplaced mine a couple of times.

Hi all,

I have a few plastic modelling tips that might help, first have a small tray or saucer with a rim to place small pieces or retention screws ect into.
Or use a piece of double sided tape on your workspace to hold the pieces on the table, both prevents them rolling away!

I have a bunch of little metal trays and bowls that are magnetic and extremely helpful for just such an occasion when there's lots of little ferrous bits like set screws. They're a couple bucks at any hardware store, last forever, and infinitely useful for assembly and disassembly.
