I can't decide between a Vanquish (depending on how it really looks on official photos when released of the various finish options) and a weathered Chosen saber. The Chosen is a very nice think nick, which is one of my favorite designs. I don't have a weathered thin nick, quite Sith-like.

I sent my entry letter in yesterday. I thought I should post that for some reason.

Well Ryan-Rising, I think its good you did. You don't have to make a purchase to enter the give away!

I am curious how many people will do Letter Entries.

I had to. Got a champion bane in the works now. Maybe I'll end up with a chrome one too.

So, the contest started two days ago. The current wait time has shifted from 8-10 weeks to 10-12 weeks. Called it. When I ordered my saber on March 1st, the wait time was 6-8 weeks. So, a two-month wait is now a 3-month wait. /salt I would hope that the 6-8 week lead time will still be accurate for my order, since that WAS the current lead time when I ordered. Logic dictates that every order after that time would be subject to the new lead times. To assume otherwise would mean that not only was their initial assessment for my order incorrect, but that production has since slowed, which makes no sense. Especially since they've renovated their shop and added extra machining equipment.

Please don't mistake this as me crapping all over SF. They make a quality product and I've only heard good things. I will continue to wait patiently for my Bastion, although I don't have any fingernails left. However, their business model and public relations could certainly use a change. Are they paying for these renovations with money from new sales? What if people get fed up with waiting and demand refunds? Are they relying on that to act as a sort of short-term interest-free loan? I'm not okay with that. It's almost as if the mindset was "Hey, we need more equipment to create product faster, and we need more money to make that happen. I know! Let's sell more product that we don't have and use that money to buy the equipment! Oh! We can have a "giveaway" to drum up some sales! We'll be out of this production pickle in no time!"

Then the giveaway drums up so much business that it effectively negates the positive change that the new equipment is having, so the lead time increases AGAIN, despite all of SF's best efforts.

I was thinking about this the past few days.. wouldn't the giveaway have been better timed with the ASP full launch? To get everyone excited? I'd hate to see SF get even more overwhelmed with all these new orders just for the giveaway, which does make sense for the mail in entries. I suspect a lot of orders regardless for the giveaway.

For those concerned that this giveaway has had an effect on the current lead time, I would submit that two days is a very short time to have the volume of orders go up so much that they had to raise the estimate. Instead, consider the possibility that in order to accommodate their commitment to getting ASP/IndeGoGo rewards completed by the end of the month, that they shifted some additional resources to that effort.

Additionally, while you might not agree with the timing, or wisdom of having a giveaway at this particular time, I think I am pretty safe in saying that complaining about it here is not going to have any effect, other than a negative one. People tend to pile on to things like this, and in the end, it does not matter how many share your opinion, the business will do what its owner wishes it to do. So, if you have suggestions on better business practice, feel free to share your thoughts with Customer Service, because that will bring it to the attention of folks in the company. Where as here, there are no SaberForge personnel actively monitoring the day-to-day activities. However, on the occasions when they do happen by and see this type of thing, their advice would very likely be the same as mine, though their response might be more stringent.

I am not complaining about the timing of the giveaway Brax, just was more of a curious thing to me.
