Adaptive Blaster Parts may yet be a long ways off, but I'm curious what you folks imagine it will be like, and what you hope to be able to create. So what do you think ABP will be like?

Right now, I'm really wondering what types of blasters they have in mind. Pistols and some of the smaller carbines/rifles like the E-11 seem like a no-brainer, but even just going up to the EE-3, that seems like a really big piece to produce in meaningful numbers. If they stuck with pistols, they can produce a handful of stock versions and then allow the modular system to give greater variety.

Part of the reason that I think that way is just because I'm imagining them maintaining a price point similar to their sabers, but that's wholly conjecture from me; I don't know what really constitutes a "fair price" for a decent replica blaster. Maybe we should be expecting these to cost closer to two or three times what a hilt does.

I'm also really curious how they'll get parts to "match". Lightsabers are pretty simple, just being a cylinder, but even among those, it's not uncommon to see a real Frankenstein looking hilt when hitting that random button. I imagine that blasters would be even more challenging to design with, though I can fairly easily picture a parts breakdown like that of Fallout 4, where you'd choose from a barrel, a receiver, a grip/stock, and maybe sights or muzzles.

I'm intrigued by the idea, for sure, and wouldn't mind making a personalized blaster pistol. Right now, I'm just really curious how it'll work. What are your thoughts?

Wow this is interesting new, thanks for sharing Borommakot. I like your modular parts thinking. Definitely will be a challenge to make multiple components interchangeable. Obviously you got this info via the infamous, ban you for no reason FB saber group, right? Lol

No, from the magazine interview that got posted on May 4th. A lot of people seem to get info from that FB group, but I'm never around when that happens, which works out considering how often it turns out to be inaccurate.

Ah ok, so the article was about SF starting up another new line. I remember Phil was looking for people with design and computer drawing back grounds a few months back. I guess the ASP campaign has afforded him to branch of into another genre of Si-fi weapons. BTW what magazine was it?

It's called Sword Buyers Guide. Here's a link: http://www.sword-buyers-guide.com/saberforge.html

I'm mostly interested to see how the electronics side of it turns out, since the blaster core board by Plector Labs hasn't been available for a while (last I heard Erv was developing a newer version).

The Fallout 4 crafting system is an apt comparison to what the system will probably turn out to be. I wonder if they'll also sell prebuilt blasters as well? I'd be interested in DXR-6 Disruptor Rifle from Jedi Academy.

And although I'd never be able to afford it, if they decided to branch out into other fandoms, I would consider selling a kidney (an O- one is worth a lot right?) for a metal version of this:

I'd expect it to be a proprietary soundboard, like their sabercore, since SF only uses NEC boards when they're not using their own. But who knows, maybe they branch out and prompt Plecter to push out a new version of blaster core.

Yeah SF will more than likely come up with their own blaster board. I guess what I meant was that since the blaster core hadn't been available for a while, I'm excited for another option.

It'll also be interesting to see if there will be electronics tiers with their blasters like with their sabers, especially if they also sell prebuilt ones. Maybe basic level has sound, mid level has sound and light in the barrel (would probably use the smaller diodes used for accent LEDs in saber hilts) and higest tier has sound, multiple lights (red for lethal, blue for stun?), and tiny rumble motor to simulate recoil?

That's a really interesting concept for tiers. I wouldn't mind seeing something like that.

I've concluded that I need some iteration of one of these two in my life.

I've slowly gained an appreciation for the DL-44, and I respect it a lot, but I wouldn't want to own one unless I really had some cash to throw around.

Not really my thing either.
It would require sound for me to even consider it.

A set of blasters could be cool though?
Han's DL-44
Boba's EE-3
Chewie's Bowcaster
Stormtrooper E-11
Rey's NN-14
Jengo's Westar-34
Scout Trooper Blaster
Rebellion Soldier DH-17
Death Watch's DE-10
IG-88s DLT-20A
Clone Trooper Rifle DC-15A
Battle Droid's E-5
Cad Bane's LL-30
Kanan's DL-18

… who am I missing?

love the light idea.
Can flash in conjunction with sound and trigger.
Maybe an aux switch to mimic semi or full auto?
Maybe this could be their "light side/dark side"? light side comes with a stun aux sound but retains led colour. dark side comes with semi/full auto aux sound and retains led?

Ya,
I only made mention of blasters from the SW universe.

The anticipation of what ABP will actually encompass, is intriguing. Obviously there are copyright issues, with actual Starwars designs, so what road are they trying to go down. I'd love to see them design weapons from the StarWars universe, but can they? I suppose close to authentic is possible, or maybe as limited releases, based on or inspired by could work. Being promoted as Adaptive, that would mean modular, which is like contemplating the vastness of the universe.

Regardless, we're all looking forward to what they're going to offer. Wanting my socks blown off!

I'd hope to get something similar in looks to the Primordial Blaster or Nico Okarr's blasters from The Old Republic.
