From what I understand, if I buy a saber warrior tier, the blade is what decides the color right? not the led. If I want the hilt to glow purple without a blade for example what electronics would I need?

If you're getting a warrior, you choose the LED color. The blades are all standard clear/silver unless you buy a day blade. If you mean initiate tier then you install your own electronics, but it's still the same thing. The LED decides the color.
No matter where you go, there you are.

The wording on the store can be a bit confusing if you actually know what goes into these sabers, but I think it's done that way for very "new" people that just think "I want a Blue blade", so the selection is "Blade Color" and not "LED Color".

Gotcha, I had seen these https://saberforge.com/collections/blades/products/colored-v4-infinity-edge-saber-day-blade?variant=28545498631 and assumed that was standard.
Thanks for the explanations!

The day blades are for use, as the name implies, in daylight or under other heavy lighting situations (like at a convention) where your LED will just end up getting washed out.

Example being with a normal blade you'd have a Red Sith blade inside, then you walk outside... and now you have a milky white blade with a faint red glow at the base. Pretty lame, right? With a day blade you'd have a colored blade no matter what. They're not as bright under normal situations as regular blade though.

Makes sense!

You can remove the blades and replace them right?

Hello Valaris,

Yes the blades are removable so you can insert a blade plug and wear the saber on your belt (or display the hilt on a stand)

There should be two small set screws on the emitter. The one nearest the blade is the Blade Retention screw and you loosen this screw using a Hex Wrench/Allen key (but don't remove it fully, just loosen it) to remove the blade. Slide in your new blade then tighten the Blade Retention screw back up.
DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE SCREW! FINGER TIGHT SHOULD SUFFICE.
The Wrench/Allen key is included when you purchase your saber.

Here are two sabers and the Blade Retention screws are highlighted in red.
Here on a Disciple/Acolyte

And on a Bastion hilt

The second screw holds the LED module in position and doesn't need to be touched, unless you opt to have Quick Disconnect connectors installed so you can change the LED (and so change the colour of the saber).

Hope this helps,

For Tyeth
