I really want to get a weathered Bane but I want the shroud and pommel in standard finish. Contacted SF but they are not doing mixed finishes on the Bane. I have heard that weathering is fairly easy to remove with fine grit sand paper. Is there anything else I should know?

You will void your warranty by doing what you're planning on doing, but if you're ok with it then have at it! :)

I personally use these sandpaper sponges, they're really good at getting around corners easier than a standard sheet of sandpaper.

I asked SF about this as I wanted to sand and remove the finish of mine along with add a couple of my own screws and greeblies and asked if it would void warranty. This was their reply...

"Cosmetic modifications don't void the warranty. If you start taking chunks out of the hilt and don't leave enough wall thickness to the point where it fails mechanically, obviously that won't be covered. So long as your modifications didn't cause or contribute to the failure the warranty will be honored."

Thanks for the feedback guys! Now if I could just sell this damn Silver Knight I'll get this thing ordered. Hoping to have it prior to SW: TFA release so I can carry it to the premier!

That IS good to know, I ordered all silver Bane, and If it comes with the coating I'd prefer to remove it gently, I like shiney metal. Plus I had intentions of "filling" some of the holes with plastidip in the hilt to create a grip.
