Out of curiosity I decided to watch the first episode of Rebels and that, on the other hand, blew me away. It was so enjoyable. But I think I'm going to finish TCW before I delve into Rebels.
TCW gets REALLY good in later seasons. The clones are always awesome, the Jedi aren't bumbling idiots (mostly) and Anakin is a fairly compelling character whenever Padme isn't present. There's one episode where Sidious lets loose and it's a lot of fun. So it pretty much delivers on everything AOTC failed at. The second season of Rebels pretty much picks up a number of dangling TCW plot threads so TCW is kinda required reading.
Wish List: Arbiter, Count, Insurgent, Regal, Legacy 2.0

Agreed! You will definitely get more out of Rebels, if you go through TCW first. Plus, you get the added bonus of having watched The Clone Wars, and that (as I am sure you will agree when you are done) is a good thing.
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....

Clones awesome? Absolutely! They are absolutely brilliant! And having said that, I highly recommend reading the 501st books by Karen Traviss.

Jedi bumbling idiots, well yes and no. I mean, throughout all of TCW, you see them solving plots by Palpatine, not knowing it was him of course, and whenever they tell Palpatine:
"Chancelor? We are going to send Kenobi and Skywalker on a very dangerous mission, top secret one on the planet of "Insert planet name here" or in the system of "Insert system name here". We are putting you in the secret because well, you're the Chancelor."

And tadaaaaa!!!! There's a freaking whole CSI fleet standing right there when they jump out of hyperspace! And no one evend suspects the Chancelor or at least his office...

This is one of the flaws of this series.

Oh oh also! The Jedi have half of new hyperspace routes, and they do not want to give it to the Chancelor's office because there were some leaks at some point. And Tarkin has the other half of the information about the hyperspace routes, and they refuse to share it with one another ... During the whole episode, I was screaming at my TV and hoping that the Jedi Order would finally understand that Palpatine is the bad guy... But alas...

Still, it's a very enjoyable series that I would watch again with great pleasure :woohoo:
1. You are looking at my signature.
2. Now you think "Of course I am, you bloody idiot!"
4. You did not realise I skipped bullet point 3.

I would definitely recommend reading Dark Disciple after watching TCW. It wraps up Asajj Ventress' arc nicely since it is based on episodes of TCW that were in production but never got to air.

I would also recommend reading Kenobi by John Jackson Miller. It's like a western but with a Jedi! Would love to see Ewan come back and star in a stand alone Star Wars movie based on this book.

So far I'm a few episodes into TCW series and it's definitely been enjoyable! It still suffers from some of the problems of the prequels unfortunately but it is an enjoyable experience. As I hear, the first few episodes are a little slow anyways. Out of curiosity I decided to watch the first episode of Rebels and that, on the other hand, blew me away. It was so enjoyable. But I think I'm going to finish TCW before I delve into Rebels.

Yeah if you're interested in both, I would finish TCW first.

I would argue it is a built in "flaw" of many stories or series of this vein. We like our fictional heroes t be smart but if they are too smart they would figure things out too quickly and the story would be over before it begins. If they didn't and they were supposed to be so smart we would constantly ask why they did not see what was right before them. It is a very tough balancing act to make characters compellingly intelligent but not so intelligent that there is no challenge to be had--the writers who can do it well and consistently are rare indeed. Another factor that needs to be considered is that human nature (the only actual nature of sentient beings we have to base things on, even in stories with aliens) is that we very often constantly miss what is right under our noses and is glaringly obvious those external to the situation, sometimes even after dozens of cues which are laughingly obvious in hindsight. So I also submit that it is easy for us as the viewers (with a healthy dose--almost an overdose in this case--of foreknowledge) to armchair analyze whether or not the Jedi, or anyone else for that matter, should have seen all this coming. In any case, this type of situation is not unique to Star Wars and can be found is every entertainment medium with exhaustive regularity.

That said I started Rebels last night and am thoroughly enjoying it thus far.
