hey all,
I was excited to get my new saber , an epoch hero tier, and wanted to get into editing the fonts and color settings. I am on a mac , with a copy of parallels and and old windows xp copy.
i downloaded the spark color 2 files and when i try to install through windows it is not allowing me, saying that installation is not possible.
does not seem to be software available for the mac platform so can someone out there advise as to a next step? would suck not to be able to alter these settings and save them.
thank you.

Macfly,
For your sake, I really hope that I am incorrect with this. The following is an edited screenshot from NEC for their Igniter. Agreed that it's not exactly Spark Color 2, but as it originates from the same Creator, the answer to your question may be less than favourable. Perhaps if another chime-in states otherwise, your only option may be the 'on-the-fly' configuration.

Naigon actually wrote something about this the other day:

The config editor is a WinForms Win32 application, so you'd need some type of emulator to get it to run. So you would pretty much need Win7 or Win8. Unfortunately after .Net 4.5 things changed a ton so you will probably have issues getting it to work there.

I've actually consulted with a friend that is a Mac expert and he is currently refactoring the code using Xamrin so that a mac-specific version will be possible hopefully very soon.

Windows 7 is going to be your happy medium between XP style usage and modern functionality.
Do NOT install Windows 8, 8.1 or Vista, unless you're a masochist who loves googling "where can I find X in Windows 8?"

I actually like 10, but only because I've gotten used to it's foibles.

IT says XP or above and .NET 4.0 runs on Windows 10.
It's not a bad system, you'll get used to it.

Went ahead and got win10. Not as bad as i thought.
But i cant get the 'twist with aux button only' setting to work. I open the editor and check the box in the Master tab , save and then transfer the files to the card. Nothing. Teisting still changes colors without having to hold the aux button first.
This editing is not as intuitive as i thought

Sounds like you now have a designated resource by Win10 for Font Editing. You may need to revert back to your first Post when you announced the ordering of your Epoch and the exchanges that followed.
If you're unsure or have forgotten about that Thread, I have linked it here. What you have as 'Axis-Twist' for Colour change is default from SaberForge. You'll need to download the SC-2R2 Software to take advantage of the 'Hold Aux-Twist' to prevent accidental colour change. ;)

You're right, my error. You seem to be further ahead than I with using the Config. Editor as minimally you already have your Hero and get to play with editing in real-time. I mightn't have anything else to add since I'm going off memory from reading and watching several months back.
To stab-in-the-dark, I presume you downloaded SC2-R2 and not SC-R2. It may be worth your while to download a copy of the Manual PDF and have a read for troubleshoot or navigate the NEC site. With what you write, if you can already edit and enable the applicable tabs but the info isn't transferring, IIRC, it was recommended to format the SD prior to saving (ensuring you've backed-up defaults first) to successfully implement the changes.
It might help, it might not. Found the following instruction (as you've probably seen through research of your own).

Yes. Newest software for the sc2 board.
I did format the card before transferring and still cant get that twist with aux feature to work.
Had anyone else here had any luck with it?

Macfly, have you found success with the problem you faced and if so, where was the error?

I have not been able to get the twist only on A/UX feature to work. I haven't been playing with it much lately but will probably give it a go again soon. That's why I was curious if anyone else on here has been able to do it. There must be a Ton of people with be his hero tier boards to move Mess around with

I'm waiting on a saber like yours, but it's probably still two months out, I'd guess. I was planning to do some experimenting with getting the software to work on a MacBook, too, so I'm glad you're blazing a trail for me!

How does the Spark Color 2 board store its preferences? It isn't a plaintext file like on Plecter boards, is it? If it was, you could just edit the file directly without needing to use the software at all. That would also let you see if maybe the software just isn't writing to the card correctly.

What process are you following to eject the card? It's possible that it's failing to write correctly due to the extra layer of abstraction from running in a VM. I had a problem like that with a USB flash drive at one point, although that was quite a while ago. (I also don't remember if it was in Parallels or VMware.) I think what I ended up doing was unmounting it through Windows, then disconnecting it from Windows through the Parallels (or Fusion) menu, then ejecting it on Mac OS. Give that a try just in case it's improperly caching a write.

BTW, are you a fellow old-school Mac guy? I noticed your "A/UX" typo; most people never even knew that OS existed, and most of the few that did have forgotten about it. :)
Yoda of Borg am I! Assimilated will you be! Futile resistance is, hmm?

True, to your comment about Hero Tier Owners. However I wonder if the majority of them are PC Users rather than Mac Users. IIRC, Naigon 'used-to' linger around the Forum here however he hasn't been active for a while. Short of a fellow Mac Hero Owner coming forth with the information to assist with your troubleshoot, you may achieve a quicker answer as solution if you were to contact him directly. Once you learn the answer, I encourage you to wear the Pioneer-Cap and provide the Forum with an update as a way to pay-it-forward. :)
