Hi All,

I know I asked this in another thread, but was just curious. Are the ASP LEDs different from just ordering an LED from Saberforge? I am asking because I saw a video HERE from Leapra where it looks like the lens side of the LED is threaded to attach to the thin-neck. I have several LEDs and they do not appear to be threaded.

I am building a thin-neck and I am wondering if I am going to need to buy another LED so it attaches to the thin-neck and does not rattle.

I have also sent an e-mail to Saberforge, but I wanted to throw this out here as well just in case I am not the only one with this issue.

Thanks so much in advance and credit to Leapra for the video.

Edit - Sorry, I realized this probably should be in the DIY section....sorry about that.

Good question. I'm planning on doing the same thing; if the only way to secure the LED is with a threaded module, I may be in trouble XD

Don't the non-ASP thins use a C-Clip?

That would have been my guess, but I really don't want to take my Exhalted apart to find out. :-)

Maybe they'll send me an e-mail to explain. I also purchased a thin-neck emitter by itself and it did not have the diffusion film in it, so I'm asking about that as well. It may be different when you buy an entire hilt vs a single part.

The thin-neck is definitely threaded for one....

And no film if you can see down in there

Hm, I ordered a complete hilt (empty) with a PS emitter, so I can report on whether that has the mylar film or whatever it's called. Do you think a c-clip would work in that emitter? I've never had to deal with them before. I noticed there's one in the bottom of my pommel, but I haven't had any reason to mess with it.

IIRC it was to secure the rattling LED, not the thin-neck. Those were always threaded I believe. C-clip was mentioned in re: non-threaded LED housings

Aye, that's what I had in mind. Since my LED module won't be threaded, the c-clip should be able to secure it, right?

I would think this would be true. I was told a little electrical tape can help with rattling with internal rings, but I'm not sure how the heat from the LED would impact the tape. I may have to play around with my emitter.

Well, I received my Redeemer Initiate hilt today. Looks BEAUTIFUL. No mylar film in the neck, though. I've sent an e-mail to CS but I'm guessing I'm going to need to get this myself.

I am also still waiting to hear back on the LED from CS (ah la main topic of this thread).

Do I need mylar or blade film, or is there another specific material that is known to work best? Where would be the best place to obtain this? I see that TCSS has mylar but the reviews seem a little discouraging.

I honestly have no idea. I kinda feel it's unfair to ask the customer to install it. I'm pretty sure it has to be adherred to the inside of the neck; from what I understand it can't just sit like film.

Well, I received some input back from Saberforge in case anyone was curious.

Looks like the LEDs are in fact different for ASP and the thin-necks should come with reflective film. I have 3 ASP thin-neck emitters and a Redeemer hilt that do not have the film included so they are going to send me to strips so I can install the film.

Here is what I got from Saberforge.
1) ASP LEDs are different, you can purchase an 12W LED module with quick connects just be sure to indicate in your order comments that it is for ASP so you can receive the correct LED.
2) Yes they should have had the reflective film included, we are very sorry that this step was missed! If you are able to add the film yourself we can send you the sections, they just roll up and slide into the emitter.

Once again, customer service does a great job of taking care of us.
