Hi guys,

Last week my exhalted arrived and I just put the blade in and we were off.

Now I am reading about the diffusion film needing some work or else the light does not emit freely.
My blade looked just fine and fits well so I don't know what the discussion is about.
I looked at the transparant roll of foil that was put in the blade and I thougt this was just rapping.

Can someone please tell me if I threw away the diffusion film.

Greets,
Armando Wan Kenobi

If you took the foil out of the center of the blade, yes... that's there for a reason. It diffuses the light and spreads it more evenly down the length of the blade, making it brighter and more evenly lit.

There are two items here: the diffusion wrap, and the mylar strip.

The diffusion wrap is inside the actual blade, and helps to carry the light (or diffuse the light) throughout the length of the blade. Without the diffusion wrap inside the blade, the tip of the blade would not be illuminated nearly as well as it is with the diffusion wrap. Diffusion wrap is used in all saberforge blades, both for thin necks and for standard blades.

The mylar strip is the shiny, silver wrap inside the thin neck of your saber. The mylar strip serves as a brightness booster, mirroring and reflecting the light from the LED in the grenade section up through the length of the thin neck. SaberForge started adding mylar strips to their thin neck sabers last summer to help compensate for the thin neck designs, which naturally were less bright than their standard neck counterparts.

Where can one find some of that reflective film? I'm working on a custom install for a Prodigal Son and need it for the thin neck section to boost the blade brightness. I found rolls on Amazon and eBay but they are huge and I don't need that much.

If the film in my Exhalted is a good example, it looks more like a small piece of reflective mylar.

Inside the hilt itselfx through the thin neck section, it is a small strip of mylar. Or were you meaning in the blade?

Who me? ;)

I was referring to the emitter on the saber itself. Glad to see I was correct.

Yup that part I know. I'm just looking to find some. Like I said, I only need it for one saber so I just need a bit and I don't want to buy a $30 roll, which is the cheapest I've seen so far.
